For some strange reason my wood burning stove starts blowing the smoke out the air vent and back into my tent. I guess you could call it a back draft. It only did this one other time. The dampers are open and the stove pipe isn't plugged up. I just can't figure this out.

try holding a hand full of burning news papers in side the stove before you light the fire wood, some times it will heat the air in the stove and make the smoke rise and go out the stack???

What d45 said.  When the stand pipe get hot the air inside is lighter and raises upwind.

Also because tent stoves have short stacks they sometimes get a down draft (wind outside pushing down).  try adding a tee to the top outside the tent, avoids down drafts and the venturi effect actually causes suction up.

I would also check your spark arrestor, if screen is dirty, it will draw less.

I don't have a spark arrestor on it. I know it was windy that night so i'm guessing i may need one of those china caps to stop the wind going in the pipe.
