To bad I don't have a GOOD camera!!I try to get neat pictures for all of you and they all look the same. We hunt the hole state which is the forth biggest, and still I look at the Pics and think we could be any where Montana. ANY WAY to the hunt!!!
5:00 am we head out, temp in town -2 ok not too bad, two hours later were getting close to where we are going to hunt temp -16 now thats going to be tuffer, but NO wind great!!! We get ALL of our Extra stuff on and head out in the dark to someplace over the hill ??? The sun comes up , we see a HUGE prairie dog town in front of us, humm ,cool! We start to call, WAY out we see a dog start to come in we stop calling and sit still. My boy and I were just sitting on a hill side with no real cover, side by side. The Dog comes on in ant a very fast lope. In five minutes he coved the mile and was at 98 yards and stops and looks right at us.I had my 870 and was out of range but my boy had his 223 up on sticks and I hear the Click of his safety. BOOM that little shell makes a lot of noise when your sitting right next to it, I jumped a bit than not even looking started to get up. CRAP HE MIST!! and I dicked his next shot. That dog took off at Mock 3 and was leaving a Vapor trail in the fresh snow.He re cooped and tried again this time it was a running shot at 400+ and growing. Bang-------Flop! Dead dog!. After he combed down he went to get him I started back to the truck with all the stuff I just got to the truck and I here Bang, bang, what the heck ?? It turned out the coyote was not dead just laying there and Pissed, He jumped my boy and clamped on to his leg bighting and shaking with all he had left. He shoot it with his riffle in the head that was clamped to his leg.Risky I though but it worked. We had so much cold weather stuff on that it could not get through, Scary to say the least !!!I guess thats the risks, the rest of the day we tried 11 more sets and no dogs. We did get a Cottontail, a sharptail grouse, and a Hungarian partridge. GOOD day of hunting.

This is a rabet getting shot, he is fliping back. Just think if I had a good camera.
