Guys,
Picked this up last week. New Model Single Six, with the 22LR and 22mag cylinders. In nice condition, and reasonably priced, I couldn't pass it up. Had it at the range yesterday. Gander Mtn. had 4 different types/brands of 22lr ammo on sale, so I bought a box of each. With this limited test, it looks like Winchester Wildcat was the top performer. I didn't waste any money on high grade ammo---I don't think I can hold well enough to make it worth my while!! I did grab a box of 22mags, and they shot the best group of the day, but at $10/box, I think I'll stick to the Wildcats! Edited by masipro |

Masipro; I don't blame you in the least for pickin' that one up. They are sweet little guns fer sure, fer sure. I do think you're getting stung on the price of .22 mags though. Around here, it's possible to buy a box of CCI for $7.99. I am layin' some away every time I drop by that store. 900F |

Great looking pistol. And the 22 mag cylinder is a bonus. I agree with the low cost 22rf. I been buying the Remington bulk pack (550 I think). They shoot fine for my needs. I know everyone says, buy and shoot a box of target rounds and see what shoots the best in your gun. Well, I've done that and the outrageous 22 rfs haven't shot much if any better than some of the lower cost shells. Nice to see you posting here. Welcome.

Great find, congratulations. My Ruger is like yours, but has a 5 1/2" barrel. I bought it in the late 70s or early 80s, and I don't have a clue as to how many thousands of rounds have been through the barrel. I also use the bulk Remington as it's accurate in my pistol. Enjoy your new pistol.

CB, you're prolly right about the price of the mag ammo. But I was already in Gander Mtn. and it was the cheapest they had. Now that I own one, 22mag will be on the "always looking for a deal list" I keep in my head!
Thanks for the welcome, Bear. Been here for awhile, but don't post too much. My therapist says I should interact with people more, so here I am. The extra cylinder was a BIG selling point---must the cheapskate in me! I also have a Uberti convertible 45acp/45colt, a S&W 64 357mag, a Marlin 357mag, and a Winchester 94 44mag. Those last 3, of course also fire the "special" versions of the mag caliber. Hog, the shop where I bought it had a 5 1/2 bbl one also, but it was in terrible shape and way overpriced. I kinda liked the look of this bbl length, too. |

Way to go. I have wanted one for years. That and the Ruger Bearcat. No real reason just like them.

My therapist says I should interact with people more, so here I am. I have known him for years, but I know him well enough to know that he would never pay a therapist, when everyone he meets tells him what's wrong with him. Nice pistol, I thought we were friends, is there another one to be had? ................Kingpin |
