    It s not the clearest pic in the word, I took it with my cell phone  and E-mailed it to myself.

  anyway, its a 1-A in 7X57. I loaded up some 140 grain sierras over RL-19 and some 154 grain Hornady interlocks over Win-760.Scope is a VX2 2X7

  It has a prety long throat so i am gonna be able to get some decent velocity, these things don't have reputation for out of the box accuracy , but we will see If I can't get some decent groups.

 . I hope for 2900 with 140s and close to 28 for the hornady 154. That should make a great all around bullet for the little ruger.

    I also put a dummy round together to practice fast reloads, its not to hard, I bet with practice I can get second shot off on target in a little under 5 seconds, mabye alot under.

    any body have any advise or loads for one of these ?

I've got Number 1s and #3.  I hunt them a lot.  Seldom need a second shot.  But once I hit a large whitetail at about 190 yards, going from right to left, broadside.  It stumbled but kept moving, I instinctively reloaded and shot it again.  That hid is in my gun room the two bullets holes are about 2 inches apart...I figure about 3-4 seconds between shots.

You'll have no problem with the second, and I doubt you will need a second shot.  I guess a little practice would help, 'cause the only down side is if you get flustered and drop the shell.

By the way my single shot carry procedure is to take 5 shells with me.  This is more than I need, BUT it gives me one for each of the 4 pockets (2 front pants, 2 jacket front pockets).  Nothing worse than looking for a second shot and reaching into a pocket only to find your car keys, nasal inhalator, or a lip ice tube.

TJ,  My problem with #1s has always been to find the right bullet weight for each one.  My #1V .223 liked light bullets, 45 grains, whereas a friends 25-06 preferred heads on the heavier end of the scale, 120 gr.  Good luck with it, I love 'em, but don't be surprised if you have to try three or four heads to get a good group.  With 55 grain SGK, my #1V would shoot a group that was 1" wide by 7" high at 100 yds.  The 45 gr. load shot well under an inch all day.  788

    I plan to get a leather cartridge wallet or caddy or whatever you might call it, that I can put on my belt or on the rifle sling.

    when conditions are right meaning I don't need one hand free for grabbing hand holds, I can have a round in my right hand like the old time african big game hunters did with doubles, although It may prove impracticle. I think I am going to like the rifle ...tj3006

TJ;

Most #1 accuracy problems can be traced to the forearm hanger.  The fixes are well known.  Any competent gunsmith should be able to do the correction, if it needs it.

The action is hell-for-stout, no need to worry there.  Load to or into the lands is that's where it wants to be.  Only thing to be checkin' is the brass, since 7 X 57 was invented before magnumitis got so popular.

Magnumies is a good word.

      How can a guy expect to get game if his bullets is not moving at 3200 FPS and his scope only goes to 9 power.

     I hope this #1 shoots fairly light bullets, say 140 to 154, I donnt mind 160s but I want to be able to get 2700 , out of her 22 inch barrel.

   I am starting farly mild with my loads, if I can get good groups witha 140 at 28to 2900 154s from 2750 to 2850, I will have all the power I need from this rifle , If I need more power I have other rifles...tj3006
