TIP-MONT IS MONTANA’S YEAR ROUND OUTDOOR CRIMESTOPPER
PROGRAM
"When hunting season ends, many people think calls to TIP-MONT stop,
but the TIP-MONT hotline is available year round to protect our natural
resources," said Debbie Lewis, TIP-MONT coordinator.
Montana’s popular TIP-MONT Program and hotline (1-800-847-6668)
enlists outdoorsmen and women in reporting crimes they observe
involving the state’s fish, wildlife and State Parks resources and U.S.
Forest Service lands and facilities.
Lewis said callers to 1-800-TIP-MONT who report vandalism in State
Parks or on U.S. Forest Service lands are as dedicated to stopping crime
as those who call in to protect the state’s wildlife.
"These callers need to know they can make a difference and may be
eligible for a reward as well," Lewis said. All callers may remain
anonymous.
Vandalism in particular is a difficult crime to follow-up on without a
witness. The tips from callers with specific information and first-hand
observations help wardens apprehend vandals and stop these costly
crimes.
"Montanans are also beginning to make tax-deductible contributions to
expand TIP-MONT’s rewards," said Lewis.
More than $5,000 has been committed to the TIP-MONT Program by
donors. The Montana Fish, Wildlife & Parks Foundation is the nonprofit
organization that accepts these contributions on behalf of TIP-MONT.
Individuals and organizations may mail their contributions to:
Montana Fish, Wildlife & Parks Foundation, Attn: TIP-MONT, P.O. Box
200701, Helena, MT 59620-0701. The MFWP Foundation earmarks the
tax-deductive contributions for the TIP-MONT Program.
