Here's one from my youth:

When hunting squirrels and you're without a squirrel call, chances are you might have a few in your pocket any given day of the week.  Various coins can be used to make a "cutting" sound to attract squirrels.

You can run a coin across the edge of the Lincoln Memorial of a penny like you're playing the washboard and get a pretty good effect.  The same is true of the rimmed edge of a quarter.  Both make pretty good "cutting" sounds.

Paritur pax bello - Peace is obtained by war.

I make a chirping noise with my mouth sucking in thru my coiled index finger covered by my thumb and fingers in a partial fist it works on Calif Gray Squirrels and I also use my Circe 3 Reeded cottontail, jackrabbit & coaxer Predator Call to bark like a squirrel it also works.I brown my floured cut up squirrels with a coating of Johnny's Lamb & Game seasoning in a pressure cooker with some oil then add some stock, bullion or water and pressure cook them.  http://www.johnnysfinefoods.com  side bar click on Seasonings scroll down to Johnny's Lamb & Game Seasoning that I've been using about 36 years tastes great on squirrel, grouse, quail, etc.

for squirrels i like to find where there are oak trees and cuttings on the ground. then i walk around a lil bit scanning way out in front of me. if i see movement, i stop, and look as to what it is. if it's a squirrel i'll quietly stalk up on it till i'm about 25 yards away. about 90% of the time it'll run up the nearest tree. i keep my eye on that tree and get as close as i can to it and sit on the ground below it, about 10-15 feet away. since squirrels hide on the back side of the tree away from you, you need to find a way to get them to circle around to your side. what i like to do is take a stick, rock, or w/e is around me, and toss it to the other side of the tree. the squirrel will run away from the sound and usually show itself to  you on the other side. from there on its a slow mount of the gun and a clean shot into the tree. just make sure you know what's behind the tree, as you will most likely be shooting up into the air. which can be dangerous is certain situations.

Totally enjoyed MYGAWDS experience. Met a lot of nice fellows in a common
effort to reduce the ground squirrel population. Weather was somewhat
uncooperative, but the effort was made. Tom S
