2200lb charolais bull. 45colt 9 grs unique 255gr cast swc. That sob won't ever cripple other bulls, dogs , pickups or saddle horse again.

When he ducked his head to make his charge and that bullet hit him between the eyes he had the damnedest look oh his face, as he sat back on his hams and died.

 Shot felt goood.

The most expensive bullet there is isn't worth a plug nickel if it don't go where its supposed to.

120lb feral sow on Catalina Island. I shot her in the throat with a 158gr JHP from a charter arms 38 snubbie at about 6' as she charged me. I was tangled in waist deep wild cucumber vines and couldn't get out of her way. It turned her enough so she didn't hit me directly. She glanced off of my left shin and tumbled down the hill. She stood there choking until my staffordshire terrier hit her like an NFL fullback. I finished her with a couple stabs to the heart with my KBar knife. Fun day.

410 lb Wild Russian Boar (a/k/a/  a "Commie Pig") with a .480 Ruger stufed with HOT hardcast lead handloads.......I was stalk hunting in the Midlands part of S.C., looking for smallish (120-175 lb) "eater" pigs to fill the freezer when this big ole' SOB walks out....I w/n going to shoot him, 'cause you really can't eat the big'ums, as the meat is ranchy.......anyway, he smells me and starts clicking his teeth, a sure sign that he was highly pissed off and likely to attack....I raised the Ruger and thumbed back the hammer.......sure enough, the Commie Pig starts to trot in my direction....when he got about 20 yards from me, I put the cross hairs right between his eyes and BOOM!......he sat down on his butt, then stood again......I wasn't about to stand there and admire my work, so BOOM! went the Ruger again and this time he just floped over on his left side, grave yard dead...........I am certain that the first shot was a killer, but big Commie Pigs can be quite dangerous, so I wanted him dead and quick..........

Black boar, 400#. Quartering away up hill 85 yards.  One shot behind the last rib, bullet exited front right shoulder after having gone thru the middle of the heart and nicking the lung.  Boar fell over and rolled down the hill 4o yards.  DOA.  Bullet was a 270 grain Hornady in front of 36 grains of RL-7.  Lots of 150# whitetails with the same load, and one shot.

60 pound deer running SOB Plott Coonhound at 50 yards with an 1860 cap and ball revolver. Had a good rest over the bottom half of the barn door and caught him right in the back of the head. 1 shot, 0% skill, 100% luck. RD

I took a 300 lb Bear back in 1988 with a Ruger super blackhawk KS411N W/10.5" BULL BARREL. I was staying at a friends house do to weather conditions and the next morning he went out side to go to the barn to statr daily chores and he walk up on a bear, I was about 30yds away when I saw the bear so I went in and grabbed the first gun in the cabinet, and the speed loader loaded it. By the time I got outside my friend had climed on the chicken coop but was in trouble so I walked out to the edge of the porch put my hand on the porch post and rested the .44 on my hand and let one go ( not smart) the next 3 I used both hands. The bear dropped pretty much where I hit it with the first shot but I wanted to be sure.

Oh the "NOT SMART" was the first shot blurred my vission for a second or two and required 3 stitches to close.

My first deer (doe) taken with a handgun at 21 yards in the woods, behind our home,  back in 1976.  She was shot in the ribs behind the shoulder. The bullet was found under the skin on the far side. The pistol just happened to be my Colt Python .357 caliber,  using 158 grain bullets, that  I handloaded with 2400 powder. The doe weighed in at 118 pounds.

Another deer was a 6 point buck taken behind the house once again. The pistol was a Smith & Wesson model 29 44 magnum 8 & 3/8 barrel, using Sierra Hollow Cavity bullets, loaded up with a healthy dose of 2400 powder. The buck weighed in on the hoof at 147 pounds.

The bullet as I remember, went in behind the shoulder making a very large wound. The lungs were turn into jello! Some of the bullet fragmented off and the rest exited, punching it's way between two ribs and taking bone with it along the way. Exit wound was half dollar size. The distance was 19 yards, from the cedar tree I was hiding under in the woods.

Later that winter I killed a 225 lb hog with the model 29, loaded up with hard cast bullets a friend gave me. They were supposed to be an Elmer Keith type bullet. I shot the hog below me while it was going up a creek bed. The first bullet hit back towards it's hams as it was moving away up the creek and his rearend dropped down. He was squeelling loud and I steady myself and put one which caught him in the side of his neck as he turned towards my direction (I was aiming for his head)  but did not kill the hog. I then went down into the creek bed and finished off the hog putting the third shot into the side of his head.

This is the day I decided never again to hunt HOGS with a pistol!!! Nor do I use a small caliber rifle anymore either.

6Bits-A big pig can sure take some killing if he is in a bad mood!...I've shot'em and had them fall down dead, and I've shot'em with the same load, same placement, and had them start moving directly at me, and fast!...each boar, especially the big'uns, have a unique temprement - usually distinctly bad........I like heavy, hard cast lead pistol bullets when porker slaying, and lighter, quick openers when deer hunting.............my favorite handgun hunting memories are of stalking thru the planted pines at dawn in South Carolina with my Ruger .41 mag, looking for whitetaildeer........
