Been hunting eastern whitetail deer for 65 years.

Over that time I've tried a number of brands of deer lure, food scents and sex scents.  Some expensive, some $5.  Never found any that actually worked.  I used a few that actually repelled deer.  Sort of stopped using any a couple of years ago...just a waste of money.

what scents do you use?  do you think any one type is great?

In my area we do more of a spot and stalk kind of hunting. I'm not sure an attractant would do much good.

I have been hunting antelope the last few days and for the first time I saw some guys that had decoys. They were from California.

I'm pretty sure the only thing that would happen to decoys around here is someone would shoot them.
I have always considered myself to be quite the bullshitter, But ocasionally it is nice to sit back and listen to a true professional......So, Carry on.

I've used decoys for antelope once.  archery hunting.  I didn't just leave them in the field.  I would walk with them in front of me to 'lopesI had seen far away.   Goats saw it and would come toward me as I closed the distance toward them.  buck to buck communication.

That will work

A red tractor also worked for me hunting mule deer in Ucross Wy.  Just sat on the tractor seat with my bow, tractor was abandoned without motor....but the deer thought of it as OK

I think I'd be a little concerned about holding up an antelope decoy in front of me during rifle season on public land.

Bow season on private land might be different.

We have a coyote decoy the is a perfick likeness of a big coyote. We don't even put in front of the call in fear of getting it shot.Confused
