I know the world thinks all of Montana is flooding after all they closed Yellowstone park for two days.

Wrong.

The Missouri river is no were near flood stage in fact it is still below normal. A bit muddy but that makes the fishing better.

We went Down stream to Coal banks/ Virgil Ferry, then down stream from there.
Every spot we tried we got fish.
There is almost never pesky trout below Maroney dam near Great falls, that's a good thing in my mind.
The normal fresh water piranha (Goldeye) where abundant and a challenge to keep them off your bait, but fun to catch when it's slow fishing for real fish Which it was not so they were an annoyance. Cat fish are still here, Northern Pike, Small Mouth Bass, Walleye, Sauger. We got some of all the above. It's to late for shovel nose sturgeon, there back down in to Fort Peck.
As well as drum there a kick to catch and the normal red tail suckers and giant Carp, one we landed was over 3 feet long. And again we got all the above. And even though the weather was 75* full sun and almost no wind we did not see another person from 6:00 am to 3:30 pm. In fact when we got back to the truck the other two parking spots where empty. Unbelievable!
I laughed at my boy when he said before we pushed off "We only have 5 tubs of worms I hope that's enough" Wow what an under statement.
About 1/4 of the time we used plugs, spinners, and spoons, and still only had two worms left when we got the boat on the trailer. WHAT an epic day on the water.

We even kept a few
PS as a side note.
The boy loaded me some "buck and ball" loads for my 45 colt.
As many #8 shot, over a copper gas seal he could put in and a 110 cast bullet to keep it all in.
They shoot a little "tight" but I was able to dust a pidgin out of the air with it. HUMM may be a good Mountain grouse load.
AND yes I do know there are "Shot capsules" for this purpose but like every thing else reloading there unavailable at this time.
He even powder coated the shot to cut down on the leading.
Great day, He just got back from " Burning the Mexican boarder" for 21 days and is heading to Alaska on Tuesday for another 21 day stent. Clap

Nice father/son experience.

looks like a few good meals.

Re fishing.  Just now got my boat in and one the lift.  A quick stop at a gas station and $346 charge on my plastic.  As I store the boat in a mine for 7 months, I strip all fishing/boating gear  out...So a full day restocking 'stuff'.  Always nice to hear that thing turn over and roar the first time in water.

I'm not real big on fishing except on days like that. Then I love to fish.

I hope you kept the walleye and Northern Pike. They are the best eatin' in my opinion.
I have always considered myself to be quite the bullshitter, But ocasionally it is nice to sit back and listen to a true professional......So, Carry on.

YUP!
The GD "Likes" fishing But "LOVES" catching.
Same with hunting and filling a tag.
We kept the walleye, Sauger, a few bass, and a worker with the boy wanted some channel cats so we kept them too. The pike was still full of eggs so she went back.

PS

I was out calling today before the wind came up.
BUT a found a fantastic piece of state land crawling with gophers.
Josie and I will go back and thin out some thurs or fri.

You're right Bear. I like catching fish. My dad and I went up to Canada fishing several times. Once we found a "spot" we would catch something every second or third cast. That's fishing.

Theirs nothing like finding new gopher grounds. We'll be patiently waiting for pictures.
