When my Grandpa passed away I got a box of his gun stuff. If I remember right their was a new (old) tube of Gunslick in the box. It was a silver metal tube in either a red or orange box.
I'm not sure how old it is, but one of these days I'll dig it out and see if it's still good. I'm betting it will be dried out but ya never know. Wingmaster

I need to look. I think I have a new tube of that stuff still in the box.
Was it a silver tube in an orange or maybe a red box? Wing master

Strange world. a tube lasts decades and is only .2 ounces. Very small amount of pet. distolate in that .2 ounces. How much toxic material could possible harm a user.
Everything today must be NON_TOXIC. and then some junk science will tell a jury that When they were pregnant and on heroin, they smelled baby powder from the next house, and their unborn child suffered serious damage. Juries have zero brains.

Yea, different stuff. just like RemOil.
Gunslick, has been around for years. Originally made by just one product company. then it was bought made by the Outer's Laboratories, Onalaska, Wisconsin. Not far from our friend DD.. And they made it for decades. then sold it and the name/trademark to Hoppes and they continued to make the graphite stuff; but also expanded it into many other products (brass brushes, cleaning rods, gun cases , oil...) using that famous trademark/brand. I think Vista now owns the trademark; but doesn't make the traditional graphite product. Interestingly, found out a cite to one of my old Advanced Gunsmithing books by W. F. Vickery (1940) that said it was just the best for trigger mechs. still have the book, but haven't read it in years.

Anyone use this stuff? It was super, a little dab would work great, and it was waterproof.
But....Seems Gunslick was taken off the market. In todays health conscious society; it had a Distillates, petroleum, hydrotreated heavy naphthenic . and that is considered toxic today. Gone! I still have my tube with a lifetime supply. It was especially good because it didn't move away from where it was put and it was waterproof, didn't rinse off. If I didn't have some, I'd add graphite to some water proof grease, like the STP Marine grease I use in my boat trailer wheel bearings. A size of a bottle cap would last 10 years. Please excuse reverse out, can't get rid of it and didn't want to type it again I guess the unsmilie face fixed the reverse out??? Edited by BEAR - 08 July 2020 at 08:48 |
