I always load heavy bullets. That's why I use 100 grain bullets. I never tried anything lighter after I found a load that was accurate.

I am thinking that I might revisit the .243 this winter and work up a load with something lighter.

Nice to hear from you Moose.

seems maybe the 100 grain is also most accurate.  rifling?

H4350 - 100 Sierra GK.  It's running 2850, but real tight groups.  H414 is really good in my rifle and is faster.
Y'all shoot straight!!!

I've had good luck with several flavors and 100gr bullets. 4895s, Varget, and Hybrid 100V. The H100V load is my go to with my Ruger 77. But, they all have worked satisfactory. 100V is more in the 4350 range as far as burn rate, Varget is around 4895-4064ish range.

My Lyman 49th shows Varget is potentially the most accurate powder tested for 70 grain bullets.

thanks,   Got 8 boxes of odds and ends  6mm bullets.  looks like I'll just start loadin the 70 grain remington (1968).  I've got lots of bottles of Varget.  Also loaded 4064 from back in 1962 when I started reloading for the little 6mm.

In all 4 of our 243's we use Varget.
A little different charge in each and all 4 uses different bullets/weights. They go from very low end savage to Wbe.
All will shoot cloverleaf groups at 100.
We have deer loads and varmint loads all use varget.
BUT with that said...
My 6mm shoots varget well but it shoots , supperformance for one bullet and 8208 for the other, I cant remember which is which.
55 gr Nosler ballistic tip/Varmageddon , and 80 gr Barnes.Beer
Does that help?

Remember: Four boxes keep us free ,the soap box, the ballot box, the jury box, AND the cartridge box
