My Springfield 87A is called the "gill gun" because it has vertical slots, like gills, in the receiver to promote cooling annd exhaust blow back. Makes a cuch-cunk sound with its rate of fire about 1 per half second. I just checked on gunsamerica tey are being offered for $99 but no bidders. Guess that qualifys as low cost!
IBD I had a Stevens 12 ga pump with that chocloate brown Tenite stock, it got a stress crack in the plastic but still worked. Had a 30 inch modified barrel, which I cut to18" and added rifle sights. Made before WW-2. It was my slug gun for years. When NY allowed rifles I sold it for $100 at a gun show.
Tenite is a brand of cellulosicthermoplastic materials produced by the Eastman Chemical Company.[1] Created in 1929, and trademarked in 1932, Tenite has been used in a wide variety of consumer, industrial, architectural and medical applications. Tenite cellulosics are manufactured from renewable raw materials (soft woods); they exhibit many of the same tactile and finish properties as wood, yet can easily be molded and extruded. Historically, applications for Tenite have varied from radios and telephones, to toys, toothbrushes and eyeglass frames.
In 1920, George Eastman established the site that would later become the headquarters for Eastman Chemical to provide a reliable domestic supply of compounds for Kodak's photographic processes. With the company's knowledge of acetyl chemistry for film production, Tennessee Eastman developed compounded cellulose acetate in 1929, which was sold under the Tenite cellulosics trade mark. Over the next few decades new versions of Tenite were developed from mixed esters to meet a wider range of market requirements.
Tenite cellulosics are prepared from cellulose acetate and its esters, and distributed as Tenite Acetate, Tenite Butyrate, and Tenite Propionate. Its mechanical, thermal, electrical, and optical properties may be tuned greatly with varying levels of plasticizers. Colorants are added for colored products. The material is processed into pellets for distribution. Downstream manufacturers mold or extrude the pellets into applications from eyeglass frames, tool handles and gun stocks to playing cards and casino dice.

I don't have a cabin, but I have an 870 Wingmaster 12 gauge loaded and leaning in the corner of my shop. I have an old towel over the barrel to keep dust and spiders out.
I have it ready, but I doubt I'll ever need it. About the only visitor I get is my next door neighbor when he smells my grill starting up. He usually comes over with a beer in each hand and offers me one. Then later we sample whatever I am smoking or grilling.
