caught a couple of hundred fish last week.  Northern, walleys,  lake trout.

Big fish that required nettiing.  guide and other fisherman didn't know 'how' to proper ly net big fish.

What do you think   head into net first    OR    tail into net first?????

Maybe I've always been backwards, but I go head first.

Depends if a lake or stream.
Lake I catch up tp them and get the tail in first.
In a river I can't run that fast so I steer them in head first.
Either way I don't let the net hoop contact the fish, it will spook and make a jump/lunge and may get off.

Head first they can see the net and boat and often dive/turn.  But if you get the net deep enough, they may try to swim in.
