Crappies are great and have a large filet.

Pike are more of a pain to filet, but are good eating, walleye/sauger eat pretty good too, perch are the best though. I used to cut kids off at bucket full, of perch or pumpkin seed, because that's all I wanted to clean. I usually only keep them over hand sized, 8-9", anything smaller is just too much work. Depending on water, pumpkin seed, bluegill, or bream, can be better eating than yellow perch.

Walleye is considered a great eating fish here in the midwest but I like cold water ie Lake Superior perch better.

Around here, most people say Walleye are way better to eat than Northern Pike.

Ont time when we were in Canada one guy kept saying that. Our guide later layed two pieces of fish in front of him and asked him to tell him witch one was Walleye and witch one was Pike. He couldn't tell the difference.

I agree, Pike are as good or better than Walleye.

had 6 shore lunches, prepared from fresh caaught fish by native guides.  NO bones.  great lunches.  2 days with walleyes and two days with pike.  SURPRISE     pike were superior, so that is all we did after 4 days.  great.

This was special for me as I usually put all fesh water fish back.

Back from, 8 day fishing trip in Northern Manitoba.  Good time, lots of northerns, walleyes, and lake trout.

Best fish was a 39" lake trout.  some 40 inch pike.

Had fish shore lunch each day.
