Seems ugly looking 'tactical' (what ever the heck that means) bolt handles.
I see no purpose in these. everyone seems tto want ultra lite rifles...but tactical bolt handles ony seem to add weight and look ugly IMO. I figure the fad will last another 5 years. then gunsmiths will be asked "can you cut that ugly bunion off my bolt handle and put a pre-64 winchester style handle on there".

the manufacturers are making what sells....and currently anything even labeled Tactical seems to be a hot item in the gun markets. Money talks and the makers are listening close.

They have a purpose, but they're being used, on wrong rifles and like everything "big" sells.
I have larger than normally hunting size, on a few longer range "bench" rifles, when you're @ 13lbs, couple ozs, don't matter. You get more leverage on bolt and can run it, while disturbing rifle less. You're behind on latest "kraz" the PRS guys and drilling those big bolt handles, to save ozs, since they have to move so much. 28" barrels, went to 26", then 24", some are even dropping to 22", if not many shots are @1K or more. |

I see alot of guys (mostly youngsters) wearing fake 'flak' vests at the range. dah seems they just make you hot. Except for nipples on a tom-cat, a FAKE flak vest seems to be worthless to me....but it is tactical.
A second 'shot' at those tactical bolt handles. I came from a gun show yesterday; saw a factory 22 rifle with a large 'tactical bolt handle'. it was so large that it interferred with getting ones trigger to the trigger...but it was'cool' I guess.

let 'em wear the flak vests....they were only designed to stop flak not bullets...not lots of flak flying around these days anyway.

I'll be happy when the popular thing is "classic". Maybe then they will start blueing rifles again and carving stocks out of Walnut wood.
