You got to take of family first, gophers will be there another day.

Unless things delay me until Wednesday, I plan on getting to Big Sandy on Tuesday and see how doable it looks, for Thursday. If I remember right, some of area is sandy/rocky, but most of it is bentonite and gumbo. Gumbo is a bit better than bentonite, to drive on, more sticky than slick.

I doubt there's cell service out there, but I'll drive back to Big Sandy or where's there's cell service and call and give mud report.

Packing  now, tough.

do I need snow camo?   are we going to need snow shoes?  rain gear?

last year I shot more PDs than gopher, so got to decide more 22 ammo or 222 rounds.  decisions, many linked to airline limits and rules.

Rebuilt my tripod; now a sit down style for PDs and a stand-up model for gophers.

It is getting close.

Are there shrimp in Montana gumbo?...I'm hungry.

Or as we like to call it out east, muck, aka slimy sticky red-clay. Like trying to walk with sticky bricks stuck to your boots.
...oh yeah! thats gonna hurt!

Ok need help.

do I need:

a Montana  Conservation License  (n0n-resident   $10).  A Conservation License is a prerequisite for all resident and nonresident licenses. It includes the state lands license (for hunting, fishing and trapping).

or
A State Land Use Permit (non-resident   $5).     A State Land Recreation Use Permit is required for anyone conducting a non-commercial activity on State Trust Lands not related to hunting and fishing

In the past you have gotten the $10 one then if you go on a fishing trip after you have it for the fishing license.
The $5 one if for hikers, and alike.
I think the $10 is the way to go.
 IBD get yours too....

Bow Killer & maybe a set of Irish Triplets may join, though not sure which days. And at least 1 Honorary Airforce service member that was/is a riding buddy of CB & I.

Been running like a chicken with its head chopped off these past couple weeks - 72hrs on the clock this mon-fri alone - so I haven't been able to do much of anything prep wise. My apologies.
