assume that you won the mega million lottery.
You bought the wife a new small sport caddy, and 50K wardrobe. You put 200 K in a trust for each/all kids and grandkid college funds. Bought the big hunting property. started a trust to dole out money to friend and relatives. Bought that sport vehicle and super SUV for self. Dropped a cool 100 million on your charities (NRA got a piece). Smoking a $20 cigar (Olivia), you 'think' you need a new rifle!!!!!! What do you buy??? remember to include the caliber (no 270 nor '06 needed). Edited by BEAR |

In that case with money not being an object I would find a mint vintage Holland and Holland royal double in 500 nitro express. These are rare as hens teeth and twice as expensive but they are a true work of art.

Man you hit that right. But when dreaming ,"dream no little dreams" I'd HAVE to find or have something built in a 700 Nitro!!! A 1000gr bullet at 2600 fps. I think I have some dribble on the key board and wet my self a little ... 700 nitro d Edited by d4570 |

Fella's;
I can't think of any super-wow gun I'd drop the cash on. A couple-nine common ones, sure, but nothing out of this world. OTOH, I'd spend a fair amount of disposable cash on hunting trips I think. You know, going to Argentina for birds this season, full deluxe of course, and then Nepal for Yeti, or something like that. If I wanted to make it a comedy tour I'd get those drooling boobs from (supposed) reality TV who "hunt" yeti's in the wilds of Alaska, or where ever they do it, and just sit back an observe. And I'd bring friends too. 900F |

I was going to say M1 Abrams, but I'm more practical, I could make do with a Sherman, even Oddball's from Kelly's Heroes, replace the main gun with a fifty, to make it legal of course, couple belt fed ARs for the gophers.
http://www.brownells.com/rifle-parts/receiver-parts/receiver s/upper-receivers/mcr-belt-fed-upper-receiver-semi-1913-sp-p rod86793.aspx Of course I'd need about 100 sections of badlands, to make it real interesting. |

And along that line, I'd just expand our current holdings. Maybe buy some "bottom land" too. You know, the kind that holds gophers! 900F |

be our Game Club. |

I know of a better place, N Bar Ranch, Flatwillow Creek, MT. I hunted edges of it for years, 27 miles of tons of deer, antelope and Elk, few bears thrown in for good measure, along with landing strip and one room school for ranch employee's kids.

I think with that kind of money we all would buy the land but I think the real question is after the land, cars, boats etc. if you were to pick one dream gun that you always wanted but could never afford what would it be? I have never owned a big bore double and probably never will but I would love to have one just for the history and the craftsmanship even if I could not shoot it...

probably a 470 or 500 Nitro express. I don't really know because I have never shot one. It would probably be what ever one I could find in a Royal. The turn of the century royals are a true work of art by real craftsmen.

I've shot a 470 NE with the then new Federal ammo. the
weight of a double helps to take some of the sting out of the heavy loads. 500 NE never for me; even though I've shot a lot of 50 BMG. When I ordered my BRNO?CZ double rifle the 458 win mag was the standard offering; a nice round indeed. But I thought I'd like to use the rifle for deer; so I ordered it in 8x57RJ. Happy I did; use it on deer and black bear and it is about perfect for those, lots of one shot kills. Since this is a wish list; I'd consider 375 win, 8x57R, or 375 H&H for cross canyon elk hunting. |

My go to rifle for everything including "long" range elk shots is a 338 win mag. It is an old paddle stock ruger that I have had for almost 30 years. It has seen lots of miles but it shoots 1 MOA as long as I do my part. Two years ago I took a elk at a lazered 550 yards with one shot. I have looked at a 375 but I really don't think you can get much better for an elk gun than a 338.
