After the spotting scope post I kinda forgot about
taking my Vortex ViperHD spotting scope back to the local dealer to see about getting it checked out. I took it in last friday. I had a message wednesday that my scope was ready to be picked up. I had to work and didn't get out there to pick it up until this morning. I was pleasantly surprised to see a new spotting scope with a tag with my name on it behind the checkout counter. I was even more surprised when I looked at the box and it was not the Viper, but the Razor. I told the manager that he probably gave me the wrong scope and he said "They do that sometimes" Needless to say I am very impressed with Vortex Optics warranty. The Razor lists for $300 more than the Viper. I got it home and didn't spend a lot of time checking it out but just looking across the street, maybe 100 yards, it was very bright and as sharp. Wing;
I know my son is really liking the several Vortex scopes he's got. And I like the monocular of theirs that I have. Neither of us has had anything go wrong with our glass, but I do know from other websites that they are rapidly gaining a very favorable impression among their customers for a first class warranty policy. Good for you! 900F |

Wing,
I also have several Vortex products---3 Viper rifle scopes, Diamondback binoculars, and a Razor 11x33 compact spotting scope. I selected the compact model to spot from the truck window mount, to stuff in my hunting pack, and to use at the rifle range. I am happy with the clarity, size, price, and warranty. There are better optics available but they cost at least 3x more than the Vortex. I think you like yours too. |

I am happy with the 3 Vortex scopes and one pair of
binoculars I have. From what I have seen so far I think I am going to like this spotting scope too. The way they handeled the warranty issue sold me on their products. I had a new scope in 5 days. That's 3 business days. That tells me that they sent out the new scope before they received the old one. That's good customer service. Wing master |

I have a buddy that works for them. He says it's a fun work environment
everyone is real young but the place is in kaos due to growing pains. Who even heard of them 6-7 years ago? They know how to put together a product but the business part is struggling. Hopefully somebody like Remington doesn't buy them. My buddy doesn't know a thing about guns or optics. Heck, I bought the only gun he'd ever owned back in college for beer money. He just writes code for them. I've been trying to get a discount code or access to demo models for cheap but no luck yet. DD Edited by deaddog |

Hang in there deaddog. maybe you will get to be one of
their field testers. I know one of Sitka Gears athletes. He gets to try new lines of Sitka products a year or so before they are on their web site. I think I might email them and ask if they need a non- athlete to test for things like how to get beer stains out of their jackets. Wing master |

I guess I don't know the right people. I'll keep sending

I like Burris stuff. My spotter is a Burris and some of
my rifle scopes. All good mechanically and optically. Don't know about their warranty as nothing has failed. |

That's the thing I like about Leupold. I have several or
their scopes and have heard their warranty is very good. The thing I like is that I never have had to use the warranty. I have compared my Vortex Crossfire (their low end scope) side by side with my Leupold VX2. They are both clear, but the Vortex is brighter. Wing master |

Fella's;
I've had to use Leupold's customer service/warranty twice now. Both times it was quick and painless. The first time a rifle wearing a Leupold got dropped & the scope tube got marked. Sent it in to be checked out & got it back saying they recalibrated it & all was good. They didn't do anything about the mark on the tube, but I can't complain about that either. The second time was when I bought the scope for the left hand CZ452 fullstock project. That was a 3-9X Ultralight EFR, which has an A/O function. On that one the A/O ring came not properly attached & therefore wouldn't adjust the focus. It went back in & was back to me in less than two weeks. I did pay the freight in on both units, but other than that there's been no charge. 900F Edited by CB900F |

I have heard Leupold's warranty is as good as it gets. I
never have asked if they do that with Leupold, but that is the reason I took the Vortex back to the store I bought it from. They will send it in for me. Wing master |

The profit margin on optics is way more than on firearms. The optics companies are facing more competition and are offering better warranties. Leupold always did because they used to cost twice as much. Things are changing. DD |
