I will be watching this one with interest. Depending on Dr.s appointments I may be right in there. My treatments are pretty much set in stone every 28-32 days, so it just depends on the dates.

Fella's;

Those dates are somewhat plastic, but the first
notification I get that someone bought a ticket to get
here, then it's set. Best to let D & I know what you're up
to & when you're up to it.

Is this a good plan?

Virginia was a fun 3 days of BP hunting. Now in Pa with
crossbow, leaving for New York rifle season on friday.

This sounds like fun. I am with in driving distance (3 hours) so once I figure out my work schedule I might be able to drive up for a day. It all depends on work and weather.

Boy was out for whitetails yesterday. Got a doe.....and a yote. Saw a few more as well. No calls, just sitting at the edge of a brush patch between some fields........we gotta get some call setup thingy and go get some of these critters. I really wish I was joining you guys. Not just for the hunting and socializing, but also for the libations and education on how to get them properly.

BTW, this farm is only a few miles from where I work and keep hearing them calling every evening. Sucks that I have permission to hunt these areas and not a clue how to do it. I can't wait to hear how this expedition works out and hope it goes well. Maybe I'll hit you guys up for tips.

Almost forgot, he was using his Weatherbey MK V standard length in 30-06 with the synthetic stock and 180gr. accubonds. Shot was inside a hundred yards, quartering towards him at a dead run. Placement was directly behind the shoulder halfway down and exited out the opposite side at the back rib. Somehow missed the punch and by the looks of the exit hole, expansion must've been minimal.....apparently it just was overkill for the doe as the yote fared much worse with the accubond. Practically split the dog in half. Not a good idea to use them on critters you want the hide from. Farmer says there is a solid black one running in the pack and has hopes to see it shot and mounted. I think the boy is gonna except that mission.
...oh yeah! thats gonna hurt!

congratulations to son.

Yep, those 180gr '06 loads are the most popular with
Pennsylvania hunters really are tooo much. Unless
they hit bone most just go straight thru with little
damage. For years I would help track those 180gr
deer.

Our eastern 'otes are like a different species; I
suspect it is the great difference in terrain. West
they respond to calls and come in fast with long
distances. So much food and cover here in the east
they are reluctant to come to call from any distance
and seem to circle slowly.
