Fella's;

I'm not so sure that this is an introduction, perhaps a warning is the correct term.  In any case, we have a new member, URSUS MAJOR, who claims to be Foo's unknown brother.  On the redeeming side U.M. also states that he is a "wanta be gopher killer".  And his initials are the same as the University of Montana.

We'll just have to wait & see how things turn out.  And, by the way, what happened to BEAR?  Did his computer have a melt-down?

2yr old daughter and in about 2weeks a baby boy is due. Also have
two German short hair pointer/ lab mix dogs, excellent bird hunters. I
started flying at age 10 with my dad and haven't stopped since. I've
done alot of different jobs from crop duster to airlines but now fly rich
and famous people around. Lots of different pro athletes, actors, etc. I
even used to fly a certain famous homemaker/stockinsider  that sold
alot of stuff through Kmart. The stories I could tell!  I started shooting
about the same time I started flying. I consider myself very lucky in
that I get paid for doing my hobbies. I got my FFL not long ago. and
don't make much money in it but I've been saving my money and
should be able to retire from flying in about ten years and concentrate
more on the gun business. I love to shoot and do so almost every day
I'm home. I reload about 20 different cals. and 12ga. I spend alot of
time hunting. Deer and pheasant are my favorite. Used to collect
Winchester levers. Now I'm more into shooting than collecting. I've
been shooting alot of 8mm Mauser lately. $44 for 940 rounds. I have a
6" metal target that I've been dinging about 9 out of ten times at 250
yds standing free hand. practice pratice practice...

The above is from my introduction here ten years ago. Time flies when
yer flyin or so the say. I suppose I have some splainin to do? I'll try to
explain what's changed and what's happened to me over the last
decade. W
-Still born the same year and live at the same place but have now
have a new house on the property.
-Same wife, still twelve years younger while being ten years older...
-terrible 2 year old daughter is now a terrible tween at 12-kidding.
-Unborn son will be ten in about two weeks.
-my two awesome hunting dogs have passed replaced by three dogs,
one of them a pug and only 10 working legs between the lot of them.
You do the math. Let's just say none were my choice.s
-Still flying, still FFL.
-Was on track to retire then one little thing called 2008 happened. It
hurt pretty bad but remained employed. Can't say the same for my
wife. Lost a 1/3 of our income and of course 401k etc. etc. Not
complaining just wasn't what I was expecting. Made it out better than
most I'm sure. Wife is now just shy of obtaining her Ph.D. Seems to
be jobs in her chosen field.
-Like most due to the ammo fiasco. I don't shoot as much as I used to.
It's hard to believe I was buying 8mm then cheaper than .22 LR is
now!

Well that's all I have to say after 10 years and a 1000 or so posts...

If you want a good laugh go to page four of the "introductions" thread
and scroll down to member Big Lost. Cracks me up every time I read
it.

Here's to another ten BSB. It's been quite a ride.

Congrates on the 1000 mark.

Are you still hitting 9 out of 10 at 250 yards?????

This year at MyGAWDS we are having two contests:

--hat with the most condoms on it.

--best wooden tripod shooting sticks.

Sorry to see you are going to be missing this year.

I know I could win at least one of those.

Thanks Bear.

I haven't shot 8mm in a while. My new pet is a 1873 trapdoor carbine
in 45-75. I can do pretty good with it at 175. Moved my 250yd target
so I don't know about that.

I'm recouping from a concrete saw VS a leg injury but coming along fine and will be able to shoot gophers .
D has to get me out and make sure the 22 is in order. He says the snow and mud is the reason
We have not already finished that task...

Hello Gents, I registered a long time ago but this is my first post because I didn't know if I was accepted til today. At any rate I'm 62 born in Dallas and live south of Fort Worth presently. I love to hunt, shoot, fish and run my dogs. If I had a favorite rifle there would be no excuse for all the rifles I have laying around, favorite cartridge hmmm 7x57,30-06 and 270 can't decide. Hope to add some worthwhile discussion to the form.

Well, 15 years ago, after I joined BSB, this thread did not exist.  I am making this post now because I am picking up threads again.  The wife and myself have moved from South Africa to the USA and settled in Charleston SC.  We have our green cards and USA Citizenship is next.  We will not be able to vote in the 2020 election, we will miss it by about a year.
The learning curve never flattens.
