Anyone with some thoughts or information on a 375/06 improved ?
I never had a use for a 30/06 anyway, I'll redo my 6mm rem to a 6mm/06 at some point.
I just like the '06 case I guess...

Before I did 375/06 improved, I'd look hard at 35 Whelen and 9.3x62, before deciding if really wanted, that much extra work and expense, for a little gain in fps. If I really needed that much horsepower, I'd look at 375H&H or 375 ruger hard.

Gotta side with Robt on this one D, the Whelen or the H&H are the way to go. If you go the route of the H&H, you can always switch to different calibers in the same case as well. The .300 is no whimp, and the Lott is a good way to head west while aiming east in Wyoming. Not to mention it's a nostalgic case that is as much practical today as it was 125 years ago. Only the Lott is a bit recoil intimidating.
...oh yeah! thats gonna hurt!

Got a 35 Whelen,
A 375 H&h ,
and a 375 ruger,
and a 338/378.
I have been thinking about a 338 federal

Since you already have 35 whelen, 375 H&H, and 375 ruger; how about 375/08 Jaguar?

My brother has a 338 Federal (aka 338-08)  GREAT cartridge.  I've killed deer with it.  It shoots flat and hard, much harded than on would think.  It fits a short  length bolt action (he has a KIMBER 84).
With a 20 inch barrel it makes a nice handling light weight stalk/hunt rifle for anything (a little light for big grizzly/brown).

The 375-06 is a bad round, insufficient neck for headspacing.

I HIGHLY recommend the 9.3x62.  Great cartridge, got me one.  Mine shoots under .5 with a 286 gr bullet.  It is a classic Euro case, like the 6.5 swed.  It is legal in africa for elephant!!!   it can be easily formed from '06 brass.   I shot my elk with it 3 years ago, 93 yards head shot.  It removed the off side of the skull and the complete brain.  Mine is in a manlicher style stock with doublt set triggers.  I had it at MYGAWDS one year and we went to  CB's range outside GF; maybe you shot it.  I had ammo for everyone; it was typical cold April WINDY Mt.

Just thoughts.  only downside to the 375 H&H is it's length;  doing a 375 H&H AI is a good choice also.

If you are looking for a kick ass round, think 416 mag Rem or Weatherby...I load and shoot both.  The 416 Remington has less muzzle blast and really has a decent trajectory.  Got a grizzly at 230 yards shooting it off-hand!  with a 400 grain Hornady handload, one shot.

Since you have a '06 bolt face, I'd suggest to stay with cartridges that have the same case head size.  and generally a '06 length cartridge to make feeding perfect. That would include:

338-06
8mm-06
9.3x62
9.3x66

My favorite is the 370 Sako magnum.   the cartridge’s power level and bullet diameter put it right between the .338 Win. Mag. and the .375 H&H Mag.  it fits '06 actions like a shoe.  not a true wildcat, as ammo and brass is available from Federal.  And you would be the only one in Montana with a 37 rifle!!!!!
