Recently I inherited some guns, all practically new.
You has seen the 45 Colt project.
I also got a DBL barrel 12 gauge that I have not even looked at.
My next project will be the Ruger American 22” 3006.
I’m not an ‘06 fan never was, no good reason just not a fan.
I don’t have anything in 30 caliber anymore, my first rifle was a Winchester 30/30.
So now what do I do with it. It has a great Redfield 4x12 on it.
Here is my thinking, It’s got less they 20 shots on it so it’s new I don’t want to change the chambering.
I’m thinking changing the ammo.
Like heave for caliber or LIGHT for the caliber.
I have BIG guns and small guns now so I don’t NEED anything for hunting.
I’m leaning toward to small bullets going really fast…
How small can I go? 125 gr? Smaller?
I have not looked to see what's out there and I don’t know the twist yet, what ever I do it will have to work with what the gun could use.
Ideas?

Something like this?
I found people that are using it in 300/06, 1X10 twist at over 3500 fps with great results.

Kind of what I'm thinking.
Not a P dog gun per say, but varmints and coyote killer for sure. I'll bet it would kill Javelina type things...
Looks like you have to copy and past to make the link.

I like the 125gr  Hornadt SST.  I use it as a light load in 308, 30-06, 30-30, 30-40.  Not a great wwhitetail bullet; but good for medium stuff.

That sounds like a fun project. I always load heavy for caliber bullets. I just figure they are better at longer range. I don't mind shooting a prairie dog with a 180 grain .30 caliber bullet. They seem to kill them just as dead as a 55 grain .224.

I do like the idea of fast bullets. It will be interesting to see how this works out.
I have always considered myself to be quite the bullshitter, But ocasionally it is nice to sit back and listen to a true professional......So, Carry on.

E. Arther Brown sells accelerator sabots for .30’s. Supposed to be able to send a .224 bullet 4200 fps out of a 30-06.

Used 30 cal factory sabots.  Generally worthless...no accuracy.  Just about a 100 yd or less usable.

I haven’t had any luck with factory loaded sabot ammunition either. They sure are magic in muzzle loaders.
The ones from E. Arther Brown are just the plastic so you can develop your own load.
