been playing with my M1 Carbine.  Bought it in 1963, DCM, $17.

I use to shoot it a lot; but know auto hunting allowed here, so it has been somewhat stagnet.  Just was my SHTF gun with 400 rounds of ammo and 9 15 shot clips, loaded and sealed with GI clip seals.

I see some are selling for $1400 and up.   WOW.

Really a very nice made rifle; could be the best Battle rifle ever made, M1 M2.

looking thru my 1500 rounds of brass, found  some 1945 french made ammo, corrisive and berdan primed.  s I pulled some of the GI seals off and found another 35 rounds.

But some cosmoline had also been on the seaals and had turned to glue/crud/wax.  tried copper wool, it helped.

now soaking the 3 woese in 50-50 oil-gas.  my project for tomorrow.

anything disolve old cosmoline????

Hence the reason you aren't allowed to hunt with them?

Steam removes cosmoline. WD-40 and kerosene soak sometimes works as well.
...oh yeah! thats gonna hurt!

The M1 carbine shoots 30 cal M1 carbine ammo same as M2 carbine.  The M1 Garand shoots 30-06.  M14 shoots 308.

The crap was set, couldn't get it off with chore girl, copper.  After 36 sitting in 50/50 mix it softened and the Choregirl worked with some effort.  The scrubbibg actually took some oxide of and I now have 4 clips that look like new, and the internals are lightly oiled.

Off to camp for a few days, so will not be able to check the feed function till tuesday.  But cycling them by hand, they are smooth.  Always tough to load for auto-loading rifles; got to get just the right pressure and not to much.
