Some folks use trees, I've seen a few lay down log's and put a seat up with a peanut can for the paper work.

What's the slickist method you've seen.

take one of those plasic lawn chairs, mount a toilet seat to it the cut a hole the proper size. Dig a deep hole center the chair over it, make a leanpee from 4 poles and cover with a tarp. We use a coffe can for the paper. Aside from keeping it dry it also prevenst the squirrels from Tping the camp when nobody's watching.
The most expensive bullet there is isn't worth a plug nickel if it don't go where its supposed to.

I got one of those fold up type  you put a bag under. I take a 5 gallon bucket, set it over a hole about 2 feet deep, and set the toilet seat on top of it. If packed in, I build  a good comfortable seat, elevated , with logs. and a hole underneath

I had nice one made out of 3/4 inch plywood that had a padded seat. I left it two years ago when we were rushing to get out before a blizzrad hit. It was gonethe enxt spring.

Wow, some pretty serious engineering there.

Ours is a shovel, one of those short handled landscaping kind, and a roll of paper. We each dig a hole big enough to use for two or three times. Each time you use it you use a little of the dirt until it's full. Then you dig another hole so you don't have to try to find a spot without roots in a hurry in case it's raining or your in a rush for some other reason next time. I keep thinking about coming up with some seat of one kind or another but haven't gotten around to it.
