Hi,I have been building new loads for my 243 with a little help from klallen.I used 80gr Berger maxium expansion factor projectiles and have been truely impressed with the results.I worked up slowly to 3650 fps with 48 grains of our IMR 4350 equivalent. At ranges to 550 yards rabbits almost exploded. These  projectiles are exceptionally accurate and live up to their expansion name.I shot groups of .310 .255 .410 and .350 while developing the load.My son and I took 27 rabbits and six foxes(terrible damage on the pelts) last weekend.Do any of you use Bergers ?Have a good one macca.
don't let the bastards grind you down.

Hi MACCA  >>  Sounds like your .243's really ripping things up.  As far as bullets go, I've kinda fallen victim to the Nosler Ballistic Tips.  They work so well in my .243 that I haven't taken the opportunity to fiddle with other bullets that I'm sure would work just fine.  Those MEF's must be a bullet your rig really takes a liking to.  Good groups, nice velocities and a weekend of kill'n the vermin to prove it all works    .

Speaking of rabbits, I was reading an article by a fello from your neck of the woods in the magazine put out by the Varmint Hunter Ass. where he talked about the rabbit population being in epidemic proportions.  Targets were everywhere at any range of shot that a varmint hunter could want.  This true?  I'm sure that that many of anything could cause their fair share of grief, but it would seem like a varmint hunters paradise.  Chat with ya later.  >>  klallen

Very good eagleye.I near busted a gut laughing at that pic.

Klallen rabbits have trebled in numbers this last season and it truely is a varmiters paradise.Landholders are poisoning them and ferreting them but they are still here.I don't think they get as many in a warren as you get pds in their towns but a similar story. Many thanks for the advice on the powder.I am really happy with the way the 243 is going. We will actually use this load and rifle in offhand competition in the next few weeks.

I use ballistic tips in my 270 and 7mm and have a high opinon of their killing power but I could never get them to group below .8 in the 243.Just one of those things I guess.Have a good one macca.
