Missouri Bullets make those new coated bullets that are supposed to be as slick as snot in your barrel. Fella at work just bought a few thousand in 9mm 115gr. Anyone have any data on these little buggers or how-to knowledge?

They shoot just like plated, they're just coated instead of plating. Think powder coat. You have to use decent crimp or they can sit back, while feeding. That may be where you heard the slick comment from.
For pistol, just iron out the bell, with a firm taper crimp, adjust as needed. They are an improvement, over the hard lube commercial casters use and it doesn't fall out, during shipping. Edited by RobertMT - 27 June 2018 at 00:00 |

I think the whole bullet is powder coated, not just the lube grooves?

The whole bullet is coated, which is most useful trait is eliminating lube smoke and time lubing. Some claim similarly reduced fouling, like plated. Commercial casters select lube, first on cost, ease of use and if it'll hold up to transportation, to customer, then how it preforms or smokes.
I don't like plated, I can buy jacketed bullets, nearly as cheap, the coated hitech or powder) work better and are cheaper. Only down side, they require more attention reloading, because they're "slick" and will slip in case, IF you don't account for it. Check out these, shipped prices, delta $170 for 2,000 115gr fmj and that's not a sale price and MBC $152 shipped price, to me penny a piece, isn't worth, not using jacketed. I use Delta's HP, for another penny over FMJ, for target preformence, these are not meant as defensive HPs, just work better on plates. Delta |

Agree the jacket are better and almost the same as plated and powder coated.
lots of guys were doing powder coating their own. It is messer, more $, and more time consuming then regular lubes. But seems they don't perform any different that lube. Most guys did it be casue they thought the bright colors were 'cool'...maybe even 'tacticol'.

They were 2k for 58 bucks 115 grain. I'll pass on the info and hopefully I can get some feedback on them. Fowling issues, loading, velocity gains or losses, etc. and post them up as I get word. My first concern was the fowling and removal of the fowling vs copper or lead, and also he uses an auto progressive press and was a bit worried about how well they would seat and if the lube would scrape off easily and throw accuracy off.

58 for the whole 2k. Seems the local supply house bought a few skids of them and are running a deal. 58 seemed like a good deal, but you know how some "good deals" work out. I err to the cautious side a bit especially when dealing with new materials and little data or literature available. I've used and still use 285 and 300 gr. plated bullets for my 50 with no complaints, but these are an entire different animal. If they work well he plans on soaking up a half of a skid or more as he and his wife are into the whole 3-gun ring. 2k of nine is an afternoon for them.

That FAQ page was worth reading.
I just orderd some Blue Bullets. and just got them in. I haven't loaded them yet, but I will comment when I do. The reviews I read said "You will look like you have been j***ing off a smurf after loading them" I'll give details on that as well. Wing master

Well he loaded and used all of them on Saturday apparently. Says they were spot on with his pet load data and didn't notice any hiccups or variations to his process. Asked him about any speed variations and he hadn't bothered to run any over a chronie. Go figure. Also said his barrel was like it hadn't been fired. No visible buildup and his patch was barely dirty. Maybe it was a good deal? Think he's going for a skid this week and I asked him to test a few to post up. See how it goes this weekend for him.

Well now it's time to revive the original thought process a it be and allow the mind to wander about.
I stopped at a local convenience place and a couple of scruffy fellas much like the majority around here before season are standing in line ahead of me. They were discussing the addition of the one fellas facial scar. Normally not a laughing matter.....but! Seems the fella was out on a ride and claims someone flicked a booger out the window at him and it actually cut him on impact.....I ponder a lot......I do have a sneaky suspicion it was a pebble, stone chip, or something of the like. This does interesting enough bring us back around to ballistic boogery. Just how fast would an old crusty have to fly to become deadly? |

In part it would depend a lot on how heavy the said booger was, as to how deadly it could be. At least in my mind.
A little 20 gr 17 hornet bullet going at 4000+ will tear a hole all the way through a coyotes gut pocket. You have had rocks bigger then that hit your windshield. If said booger was a pound or two it probably be able to brake bones if it was going like 200 mph.

Hmm...a two pound booger at 200mph would do a proper job of removing someones head, a bit more then a tiny little cheek scar. This does however make me all the more likely to never wear an open faced helmet or go without. I thought bugs in the teeth were a good enough deterrent! Not to mention saving my last marble from falling out.

I have loaded and shot more than 7,300 9mm RN bullet for BLUE BULLETS without a problem. Will continue to purchase them. The new “no more blue fingers” coating is very well received.

Welcome to our group Mike. I'm having great luck with Blue Bullets. They load good, and shoot good.
I load and shoot 230 grain .45's and am working on my third box of 2025 or some number like that. The last batch I got had the new coating and I gotta say I like not having blue fingers when I'm done loading. Wing master
