Actually nice mechanical work.  Not sure why?  maybe just 'cause the blok wanted it.

To bad to see a Ruger 96 destroyed, those were nice, even if no one wanted one beside me.

That looks fun to shoot but it's a little too modern for me. Lever guns need blued steel and walnut.

But it's a 44! Can load subsonic with heavies and slap a suppressor on it for varmints or any other critter for that matter inside a hundred. Also it's guaranteed to piss off every liberal around....even though it's a lever! Gotta look on the bright side.

I still think Ruger missed the boat by not making the 96 in 7.62X39 with a 5 shot mag and a .308 barrel.  Could have been the successor to the Win 94 for the 21st century.  IMHO.

I think Ruger brought out the 96, figuring that the Feds were going to outlaw all autoloading rifles.  So they modified its Model 44 Carbine also called  the "Deerstalker"; until Ithaca sued on that name.  The 96 also had a limited sales to states that don't allow autoloaders for deer hunting.  Even after they cost reduced the 44 lever gun, the 'Deerfield' its sales were low and the costs too high.  Autoloaders are just much cheaper to make.

I found this one a few yrs ago on a whim at my LGS. Grabbed it right up, you don't see them often and I'm a sucker for 44mags. It isn't as accurate as my Ruger Carbine (S-auto) but I haven't played with loads much. That thing in the video is just...yuck!

great close range rifle.  nice wood on that.

Got a nice buck with a Marlin 44 mag carbine at 152 yards DRT.

Been re-do ing   an M1  carbine to use in NY state, now that rifles are legal in my county.  30 carb in a light cartridge; but out to 70 yards I think I'll be ok with soft points 110 grs.  Had to take off the bayonet stud and get a 5 shot clip.  Now need to address the front sight.
