I always TRY to clean my rifles as soon as I'm home
from using them' bore clean to new condition.

But sometimes things slide. And I could miss a rifle,
especially on overlapping seasons/trips.

So once every 12-18 months I take out each and run a
Hoppes patch to see if any carbon, lead, or copper.
If the patch comes out clean; then they get a heavy
lube patch, working mil spec std gun oil into the
grooves; wipe exterior and back into the safe.

Did 20 today..perfect...no carbon/copper nor rust. I
must have done good!

20 down 20 to go

I need to do that. I'm pretty sure all of mine wouldn't
come out clean.

My concern is RUST.

In my last house I didn't have a safe..I had a secure
room with a heavy cherry wood display case; so cleaning
and access was faast.
Since last year I moved and now have a safe that means
unpacking everything to get them out.

I hate to see a nice rifle with even mild surface rust
on the bore or action.

Used some pipe cleaners and got my ears clean...both at
one time.

Finished up today, all were clean and no rust/duct/dirt.
