I've never held one, but it looks like a pretty good gun for the money. If it is as accurate as most 700's it would be a heck of a good deal.

I bought a camo one in 7 mag, $300 out the door. It is the Edsel of guns. Takes all the things people 'say they want' and incorporates it in one gun. Barrel nut, thin safety in trigger, pillar bedding, metal detachable mag, metal latch for mag, non--rusting triggear (molded into stock) recoil pad. Barrel is dull blue.
I've shot some 7 mm mags, but this is the first time I've owned one. I've got some 7mm bullets I use for 7x57 and 7-08; will use them this week to load a few boxes. Seems the 7 mag is really the do everything cartridge also. Pretty much does what a 300 mag will do and also what a 6.5 will do. Maybe more BOOM that my 7x57!

LOTS more BOOM than yer 7x57 Mauser round Herr Bear....which is a great cartridge in its own right. More punch too farther/way out and more punch at the butt plate end too!  Don't hear too much anymore about the 7mm Rem mag. I have had one since 1972. Typical bullet wt for me has been 160gr & 175gr for big game BUT at one time it was my only scoped rifle so it had to double as a varmint gun...hence it was then loaded with 115gr speer hp boolets for that temporary assignment. Crows & 'yotes didn't care if I was maybe OverGunned....

Been my goto for 30 years now. Model 70 first, then the 116 Savage, now the new winny. I would not suggest the light and fast on white-tailed deer. Hit one in the neck and only got the hind quarters. Shot was from 100 yards-ish with a 120 gr. softpoint from PMC....mights been a 110...been to long. I currently have taken a liking to the 175 gr. bullet selection. It's what I used to take that last 400 pound bear with. You will notice one particular thing with the 7mm RM. A longer barrel pushes that horrendous blast a tad farther from your ears. First winny was a 26", the 116 was a 22, and the current is a 24. The 26 was quieter and the muzzlebrake on the 22 was brutal, 24 is yet to be determined. No brake.

Took the 783 out to the range.
Impressed. Just made a quick load, no developement. It shot under 1" at 100 yards. with a few flyers by me. Liked the ejector system. since I reload everything I shoot, I hate when an ejector flings the case 6 foot away. this one drops it 6" from the bolt regardless how fast you operaate the bolt. Clip held in fine and fed well. Trigger was just a little heavy (adjustable) but no creep. Rifle is quite heavy which helps on recoil. will need more load work to see if I can get is smaller group. Stock was very comfortable, checkering is just dimples, not sharp. could be better for grip.

Did you get it came from a Marlin product & then Remington after buying the Marlin brand put their moniker on it....maybe some tweaking. Anyway it most likely won't show up for a while unless maybe Ruger will try it out when they get Marlin up & running down the road. Notice there is a lot of "Savage" firsts in that rifle...bbl nut & trigger & pillar bedding come to mind.

Mine is marke Remington as all 783 are. they do differe from the Marlin 7.
I've not had much time and components to work up a load; but it shot my quick loads pretty wekk. Just got some 200 cases of once fired brass. I have disassembled the gun for my annual complete cleaning (do it with all my guns). the bolt dis-assembly is the best I've seen. this is a sear engagement thing and the fitting is perfect, so easy to disassembly. It feels good when pulled up. But doesn't have the finish of my Sako, Kimbers, Weatherby, or tikka rifles. Wiil get back when all is range developed & tested.
