Squirrels are just in season. I like to hunt with a 22 rifle.
Back in "the day" the end flap use to say "Careful Range 1 mile" as a warning. since squirrel shots are usually up in a tree, At a 45 degree angle, how far would a LR go?????? My shots try to be with the trunk as a backstop, but certainly one can miss.

most .22lr box endflaps now say "range 1 1/2 miles. 45* angle would put it at Maximum range discounting winds.

I don't know how far a .22 LR projectile would go, but I can't think of a better thing to be doing than walking through the woods carrying a full stocked rifle looking for squirrels.
By the way Bear, You have the best looking .22 I've ever seen. If CZ hadn't have discontinued them it would be at the top of my list. Wing master

I love it wing. we shot it one time on PDs. missed. I forgot it was sighted in for a contest at 200 yards, so way over a 30 yard dog.
Cz are great rifles, unfortinately they have gone WAY out of sight on price.

I bought 4800 rounds of the practice rounds. that along with the 800 I bought to make sure they worked should almost shoot out the barrel of my Swede.
I have been eyeing a CZ 557 in 6.5X55 that has been on the rack at Rocky Mountain Sports for a couple of years. If it would have been a 550 I would already have it. I'm thinking it would extend the life of my hunting rifle and make a great truck gun. I almost have myself talked into getting it. It doesn't take much convincing. Wing master
