I have a line on a 111 savage VERY reasonable price. Only slightly used, just over a box of shells run through it supposedly. The recoil was just to much for the guy I guess.
It's a 7 mm mag now but it is there LONG action and should except
a RUM case length cartage or a 375 size.
Maybe a 8mm rem mag or a 8mm RUM candidate.
I can get a 8mm rem mag savage barrel with a brake for around $300. Would a guy be able to use a reamer to create a 8mm RUM chamber in an 8mm RM? Either way it would be around $600.
 It may be the one...

Seems the Rum is larger in each dimension, so reaming would work.

head size is the same so the bolt head would work.  rent a reamer.

This thing could come together quite nicely.
FFL cost and shipping on the rifle should not be over $75 I would think.
gun-$325
Barrel-$346
More shipping -$75
I'm guessing a limbsavor $50
I'm not a fan of a brake May have it threaded just in case.

$796‬

HUMMM???
Looks a lot like my 6mm

7 rem mag savage is small shank receiver, you need large shank, for RUM and full length mags.

According to the Savage board the 111 is the large shank and the long action. ???
I'm going to get the # and check it out farther.

You need #110 series, originally chambered for RUM or lapua, to get large shank long action Savage. The WSM are large shank short action. Target/tactile three screw actions, are also large shank.

Aftermarket barrel mfg, will be able to confirm this.

YUP Dang it.
 Small shank.
Would have been a good buy at $325.
We already have 3 7 mm's.
The savage just seams like an easy way to go
I'll keep looking.

dale.....contact E.R. Shaw....they can most likely build you any gun/caliber you want & they use Savage actions. I have one gun with a Shaw bbl I had done in 1972.

Also, contact the Savage Custom shop direct to see what they can do for you, they say they will build any rifle caliber you want from their actions. See data for them below the shaw info. Ask to talk to the lady who runs the custom shop. I had them build my Savage .204 I use for the p'dogs and sometimes gophers. Was a 10wk wait back then.

Custom guns are easy....just outrageously expensive.

Thinking you should continute to look for Savage 110 in 7mag or 8 mag then get a shaw barrel.

I think the Shaw and Savage shops will surprise you for costs....most certainly tho starting around $800 & up from my experience. Actually, my Savage Custom shop M112 LFV was same as catalog pricing at the time. With accu-trigger and accu-stock.

D  If you decide on Shaw; I am very close, and could check anything out....wood stock.  Plastic stocks are what they are.  Avoid Shaws 'special patented fluted barrels", they warp with heat.
